Product Information
Adrenaline is a naturally occurring catecholamine that is secreted by the adrenal medulla in response to physical effort or stress.
Through alpha-adrenergic stimulation, adrenaline exerts a powerful vasoconstrictive effect. This effect counteracts vasodilation and vascular permeability, which can lead to loss of intravascular volume and hypotension, which are the main pharmacotoxicological effects of anaphylactic shock.
By stimulating beta-adrenergic receptors in the lungs, adrenaline exerts a powerful bronchodilator effect. Adrenaline also relieves itching, urticaria and angioedema associated with anaphylaxis.
